Canyon Creek Farm Barn Rules: 2008
I agree to the following rules for the safety of horse, rider and facility: All activity riding, horse handling and even watching is done at your own risk!
1. Upon entrance, a completed current Release of Liability must be on file in the office. If you are not a boarder and have permission to handle/ride/groom by the horse's owner, a Release of Liability must be signed in the office prior to handling/riding/grooming the horse. Anyone that you bring on the property MUST sign a release to be on the property. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO HAVE YOUR VISITORS SIGN THE RELEASE!
Liability Releases are in located in the tack room in a box by the door. PLEASE ASK IF WE ARE OUT!
2. FOR OWNERS The stable opens at 9:00 am and closes at 7:00 pm. All riding must cease by 6:30 pm to allow time to properly cool and groom horses.
FOR VISITORS: THE STABLE IS OPEN BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. WE ARE CLOSED TO ANY VISITORS ON MONDAY and FRIDAY. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT WE ARE A SMALL PRIVATE FACILITY WE ARE NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC - THEREFORE WE DO NOT PUBLISH OUR ADDRESS. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN VISITING FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES, PLEASE EMAIL US WITH THE NATURE OF YOUR VISIT AND WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO ARRANGE A TIME - A DONATION IS APPROPRIATE BECAUSE OF TIME WE MUST TAKE AWAY FROM OUR OFFICE/ANIMAL CARE DUTIES.
3. All riders are required to wear an approved helmet and proper footwear when engaging in any horse related activities at Canyon Creek Farm. Flip flops and other open toes shoes are not appropriate or safe.
4. Horses must not be left unattended at any time. NO LOOSE HORSES ALLOWED!
5. Horses must be properly tied in a manor, that they can be released quickly without injury. Do not tie horses to trucks, trailers, corrals, cars or fences, chairs... If in doubt, our trainers will gladly show you the proper way to tie a horse.
6. All tack, bridles girths, lead ropes, halters riding crops, lunge lines... must be properly hung and not left on ground at any time. IF IT DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU PLEASE DO NOT USE IT. If you are keeping tack and other items that belong to you please put your name on those items. Items may be stored in the tack room but we are not responsible for theft or damage.
7. All gates, stall doors... must be closed and locked. Please double check yourself!
8. Please turn off all lights when leaving, and make sure tack room is locked. Front gate is locked after 8PM.
9. Riders, drivers (cars, trucks, tractors...) must be aware of others at all times when entering and leaving facility and not disrupt activities taking place at the ranch. Please be careful on the driveway leading to the barn, always drive and ride slowly and with caution.
10. There are solar electric fence chargers on the large pasture fences. Please be aware that even battery operated charges can emit a strong shock. You are welcome to turn the charger off while you are opening and closing gates. PLEASE REMEMBER TO TURN THE CHARGER ON. Do not feed pastured horses treats over the fence! Place treats in the feeders. Watch fingers and hands horses can and will bite!
11. We are on a well system. Please double check when you use water and make sure it is off before you leave. If you are ever in doubt please ask first.
12. The refrigerator in the barn is for your use. Please help keep it stocked and replace what you use from time to time. Please keep the fridge clean!
13. Please clean up after yourself and your horse (this includes your guests). Manure goes in the wheel barrel, trash in the trash can. Hoses are wrapped and never left unwound where they might cause anyone to trip or horses to get tangled.
14. No items are to ever be stored in center isle of the barn. This is a safety issue!
15. Visitors are not allowed inside the stalls or inside the pastures or paddocks where horses are present at any time.
16. Smoking is is not allowed.
17. The insurance company does not allow outside dogs or other pets on the farm to minimize chaos.
18. Children under 13 are not allowed on the property without adult supervision. Children must not run, scream or disturb the peace.
19.You may not give lessons on your horse or the horse of another for a fee. You may not lease your horse to another without modification to your boarding agreement. Relatives and friends may be allowed to ride your horse with your permission and under your supervision but they must sign a Release of Liability. Absolutely No outside trainers are allowed to train any horses at Canyon Creek Farm.
20. Lessons and trainers have priority over the use of the round pen and arena and should never be disturbed during lessons.
21. Riders have the right of way. Always ask permission before lunging your horse or working your horse in the round pen, if the arena is in use.
22. Always check your tack before riding, it is your responsibility to ascertain it's quality and fitness before using. If you are not sure- don't use it.
23. Cantering or galloping horses is permitted in the round pen, arena or on the trails only!
24. Always be on the lookout for unsafe conditions, gopher/ground squirrel holes/ broken fences.... Bring any concerns to our attention immediately.
25. The house is a private residence, please respect their privacy. Do not disturb the household unless it is an emergency.
26. Please do not park your car in the house driveway or on the street. If you park your car at the barn please be aware that it could be scratched or damaged by horses, cars, others...
In general, dangerous activities are prohibited. For example, you may not climb or sit on top of the turnout fences, round pen fences or pasture fences.
You may not mount your horse in the barn and ride in the isle way of the barn.
Assume that all horses do not get along, therefore do not tie your horse in the center isle of the barn next to a stalled horse.
Use caution while walking horses in and out of the barn, as to not startle stalled horses.
Do not ride your horse between the pasture fence lines or in the pastures.
Do not excite or encourage pastured horses to run.
Do not feed other people's horses.
Should you ever encounter a problem getting your horse in or out of the pastures please ask for help. Herd situations can be dangerous.
It is not recommended to attend to your horse ie: grooming petting, feeding... while in the pastures at any time.
Should an accident occur please contact Canyon Creek immediately.
If you are ever unhappy or have questions to anything pertaining to your experience here at the ranch do not hesitate to ask.
Please practice good sense, and self-preservation at all times, and have a very safe and happy experience here at Canyon Creek Farm.
